WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

The FLECK family of wireless sensor nodes provide high-levels of integration, performance, and reliability. The flexible integration allows for connection of external analog, digital or RS232 sensors solar cell and/or battery to the baseboard via screw terminals. The radio has a range of 500m outdoors with a 15cm whip antenna.

The Nordic 903 radio chip has a sensitive receiver, high data rate and reliable receive data interrupt. It connects to the Atmel CPU via the serial port, leaving the SPI bus free for sensors. The TinyOS radio stack and Deluge has been ported to the Nordic 903.

The power supply includes a highly efficient DC-DC converter allowing a supply voltage range from 1.3 to 5V. In addition it can charge an external rechargeable battery – for example from a solar cell – with no additional components.

The base board provides a temperature and a light sensor as well as screw terminal connections for four digital i/o lines and two analog inputs. This allows a single board solution for many simple applications.

The expansion interface consists of two connectors and optional mounting bolts allowing secure mechanical and electrical connection between the two boards. The mounting holes can also be used to mount the FLECK inside a container.
